About the event:

This event has been rescheduled from August 3rd to September 14th, with a September 15th rain date.

Join the Cheshire County Conservation District, Long View Forest, NH Timberland Owners Association, and UNH Extension on a woodland property to learn about selecting and leaving trees for timber harvests that help maintain healthy forests across our region.

During this workshop, foresters and the landowner will show participants how to decide which trees to leave and which trees to cut during forest management based on the landowner's stewardship goals and interests. We will be working in a mixed wood, forty-year-old forest which is growing back after a whole-tree harvest. This is a common forest type in New England, and we hope that what you learn in these woods could be applicable in your own backyard. There will be a demonstration of using the log arch to extract a cut log. The log arch is a great tool for landowners to extract firewood, sawlogs, and more on their own properties and is available to rent through CCCD.

Presented by Cheshire County Conservation District, Long View Forest, NH Timberland Owners Association, and UNH Extension.
