Options for Managing Old Fields for Wildlife
Old fields, hedgerows, and field edges offer valuable habitat for many vertebrate and invertebrate species. The wildlife that use these areas are shaped by a variety of factors that you can influence through thoughtful management.
During this outdoor workshop, we will explore the key factors that determine which wildlife species use field and old-field habitats, and discuss practical ways to attract them.
The workshop will be led by UNH Extension educators Amy Papineau, UNH Landscape & Horticulture Field Specialist, and Matt Tarr, UNH Wildlife Habitat Specialist.
Representatives from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will join the group to discuss potential funding sources for managing fields to benefit wildlife. And the Cheshire County Conservation District (CCCD) will be on hand to answer questions about the equipment they have available to rent to help with managing fields.
